1993 mercury 60hp bogging wont take gas, very hard to restart

ran boat approx 30 min. boat started bogging would not take the gas, cranked back up would idle and then bog when i give it gas, finally got where it would not restart, tried and tried finally got to the boat ramp. Pumped bubble and it was hard. This exact thing happened about 5 trips ago which was about a year ago. the only thing mechanic could find was the voltage regulator was burnt up last time. Any ideas!!!!!!!!!!! Carbs havent been cleaned in a couple years but would this just abruptly start , it was running fine for 30min up the lake.

might be possible you dislodged some piece of gunk in your carb/fuel line. check for fuel in the combustion chamber when you try to start.
