My stator(832075a5) has gone bad. I bought one on ebay it said it would fit my motor(832075a17). The existing stator has 5 wires coming out of it( 2 yellow, red, blue, and black). The new on has 4 wires coming out of it(2 yellow, green w/white strip, and White w/green strip). Am I missing something?

Please help.

Just a guess, the missing black wire may be the common ground point for all the coils. If so your newer stator may have this ground wire built into the stator so that it gets grounded when you mount it. On your bad stator, where does that black wire go on the motor?

How did you know your stator was bad?

My mechanic just replaced the switchbox, regulator assembly, and solenoid. He tested the stator and said it was reading low but would probably be ok. Well, It wasn't. So I bought one and didn't realize(until this post) that I needed an adapter. Can some one help me with the install? Installing on a '93 Mercury 90hp. New stator has 4 wires 2 yellow, a green w/white and a white w/green. I assume that the 2 yellow go to the same connection points as the original yellow wires. the 2 greens match up with the green on the adapter. The black on the adapter grounds to the same point as the original ground. There is a blue and a blue w/white on the adapter. The original stator had a blue and Red. This is where I get stuck. Any advise would be great. Thanks
