Hey All,

Recently rebuilt my 570A as it began to get tired. Motor is back in the boat rebuilt and along the way noticed my old points & condenser distributor to be old, corroded, and advance springs broken. I have replaced it and the coil with a Pertronix Ignitor 2 and Flamethrower 2 0.6 ohm coil respectively. Engine was first oil primed, carb filled and mechanical fuel pump primed, and ready to go. New coil is getting 11 Volts key on, and 9.5 ish volts key cranking. However, engine seems as if it is getting no spark and no signs of turning over. I'm pretty positive (lol) that my connections are very clean. Both batteries have 12.7 volts, and starter seems happy cranking. I have attached the 570 wiring diagram. If anyone has thoughts on the speed limiter *item 29) and resistors, or wiring which would affect me getting the new engine broken in.... lmk. Looking forward to a great season with my late fathers pride and joy.

Cheers!

With a Petronics conversion the 2 wires from the distributor if one is red and the other black then the red goes to the +side of the coil and the black goes to the -side. Disconnect the rev limiter and try that.
Some Petronics are designed to operate without a resistor. Did your kit come with the directions?
It has been a long time since I installed a Petronics so I hope this helps.

Your 570 should never have had points. VP engines quit using points on the V8s and V6s back in the early 80s. Prior to the 570s were the 260s and 271s which used prestolite electronic distributors

Kenny has you covered on the pertronix trigger

I would just bite the bullet and put in a Delco Voyager distributor.
