My friends brought me their pontoon to tinker with. It has not been run in YEARS. The fuel system was completely skunked up. Looked like coffee grounds in the bowl of one and jelly with salt and pepper in the other. I did extreme cleaning... several times... new carb kits and all. completely cleaned the fuel system, new hoses, clean tank, rebuilt fuel pump... EVERYTHING either new or cleaned. Now it will start up very easy but absolutely no idle. Put it in gear even slamming it in gear at high rpm and it dies. We have decided to try replacing the carburetors. My problem is that the only used carbs I can find look as bad or worse than the ones we have. I found some off of a later model that appear to be the same but the bowls are different.... just wanting to know if there would be an issue or if anyone knows if these different carburetors would be compatible with this engine? The original carbs are 6E5-14301-13-00 and 6E5-14302-13-00. The ones I'm seriously considering, if they will fit and run properly are off of a 1988 130 hp, 6L-14301-01-00 and 6L-14302-01-00 or a pair off of a newer 115, 2004 maybe a 2007 also. Any advice on which carburetors other than OEM that will interchange will be much appreciated.
