bob,

Did something become disconnected?

Check the movement of your cable ends under the hood.

Remote or tiller controls? If remote , may be as easy as a parted shift cable.

Delivered to Coastal Marine for a mechanic to look
into the no forward problem. Appears to be the cabling as you noted. Thanks.....Noticed that regular maintenance and TLC seems to be very important to the Force motor. While the motor is there ....what would you recommend as far as service and if you would give me a cost estimate. I am new to boating and a student on a low budget.

Thanks again,
Bob

Bob,I'd go ahead and let them change oil in the lower unit while it's there and inspect it for leaks. Most dealers will have a maintenance checklist of items to be serviced periodically.Spark plug change and or inspection, compression test etc...You can expect to pay between 45-60 per hour for labor depending on dealers rates. You'll need to discuss with them as to which items you'll address within your budget and which ones you could perform yourself, such as lubrication of swivel bracket, tilt bushings, linkages and such.

The mechanic says the forward is working, but needs to tow to the river to check in the water
with pressure. The previous owner had used this same mechanic and believe the lower unit was repaired or replaced. No boat now for 8 days. Any
advice or idea what this could be?
Thanks,
Bob

If the mechanic says it is shifting properly it may be as simple as a spun hub on the prop.
Usually a simple repair at the prop shop.
Prop has a rubber hub(clutch) that slips if something is struck with prop. For various reasons with age these hubs sometimes slip with age.
Not sure how much to repair but 40 or 50 dollars should cover it.Or with luck you might find a good used prop for less??
