1994 50hp idle problems? Help

I bought a used 1994 50hp Evinrude that seemed to idle fine when I bought it on the stand w/ the water jacket on. Even when I first drove in the boat with it the idle needed adjustment on water, but was not as bad as it is now. My question is, how do I adjust the idle and where on the motor exactly is it?

Could my problem lie with my gas tank?? It does have a gas tank vent and has recently been installed. Everything is new except the motor, well unused anyway. It just seems that since it idled fine on the stand, and with the portable gas can, it ran fine. Then it ran ok for a while...still had idle probs just not as bad, and now it seems like after you let it idle...and it dies....you have to pump the gas valve to get it to fire right back up. If not you have to choke it pretty good.

Im thinking if I can figure out how to adjust the idle, that I could then see if it will run good with the current gas tank setup. If not, its the tank set up. I just dont have access to a portable gas tank.

Thanks.

Ps...I also have issues every once in a while when the engine feels like its running on one cyclinder. If I shut it off, or rev in neutral...it seems to go back to business. Ive been told that can be a power puck...or something like that going bad?? Anybody know?

is your vro fuel pump still using the oil tank, or are you premixing you gas. when you feel it starting to run on one cylinder, check your spark immediately. i will get you some pics tomorrow on where the idle stop screw is. let me know about vro pump. you tank should be fine.

Ya I premix my own gas. So no oil pump. It also has the hand pump style fuel pump.

Ya right now its not even idling in neutral, but when it was first ran on the boat, it would idle for a min or so, but when you put it in gear is when it really dies.
