Starts easy everytime, but about half the time will die when put in gear. When warm it starts and the rpms are increased about 250 for about 5 seconds then idles down. Sometimes it dies after idling down.

The hi-idle on a warm re-start is normal, it's the Quick Start system. Every time you start the engine, QuickStart electronically advances ignition timing 10 degrees until the engine warms up. If the engine is already warm, it de-activates after about 5 to 7 seconds.

I would start working on your stalling problem by check the shift assist switch. It's designed to momentarily kill spark to 3 cylinders when you shift (reduces shifting effort). If the switch is sticking, it can cause this.

-John
