This 120 really runs well, so well that the ignition switch doesn't turn it off. It uses Mercury's Thunderbolt ignition system. The CDI Electronics website states that the Black/Yellow wire is the kill circuit, if you ground it, it should shut down the engine. Problem is there is not a black/yellow wire on the switch box. Number 11 is the switch box in the wiring diagram, which wire would be the kill circuit when put to ground? Also, the ignition key switch I replaced.

Looking at the diagram....the #1 wire coming out of the ignition switch is a black/yellow wire.....looks like it runs to a connector or something then turns into a single black wire that goes to the switch box....third position down from the top on the right side. It shows a ground wire for the switch box....might check that for tightness/corrosion. Might recheck your wiring on the new ignition switch.

Thanks topgun3690. I think both of us figured it out at the same time. I removed one wire at a time on the switchbox to read what was marked (under each wire the switchbox is marked). You are very correct, the black/yellow wire did indeed run to a single color black. That black wire runs over to a separate kill switch and wasn't hooked up. I'll hook up a battery, put it on the muffs for cooling and see what happens tomorrow. I will let you know when I find out. Thanks again for the help.

" That black wire runs over to a separate kill switch and wasn't hooked up. " Good job kbh.....looks like you figured it out. In this case, it will be a good thing if your motor quits running! lol

I did fire it back up and yes the black wire was the problem. Now to finish up the install on my StarCraft. Thanks for the help.
