Bought a jetboat. (New powerhead, stator, cdi, powerpack, etc...)

Ran great had a great time till now.

Ran it out of gas (Guage broke) started to have issues.

It would not plane and would not get full power everyonce in a while it would sparatically hit hard and run great but if you take it off the throttle it would idle and misfire a bit then not plane.

There is water on the top plug (A decent amount)

Here is what has been done:New Plugs
New plugs Wires
New Fuel pump (Rebuilt > new diagram)
carbs rebuilt (New gaskets > needles were clean and good)
New water fuel seperator,
New primer bulb
Checked impellor looks clean and clear and pushes water.
2 asprin and a shot o Tequila
Still had water on top plug only and would not plane it seems like it is only getting half the rpms no top end?

Replaced exhaust manifold gasket and patched block with perma 4 minute epoxy. (Small chinks on edge no cracks){Also had a nice crack in gasket}
New manifold gasket with a decent amount of "the right stuff gasket sealer" on both sides of gasket.

Still no plane at first and finally hit > got on a plane after a while once but could not duplicate getting on a plance fast?

I check and top plug is cleaner that the other 2 and has water on it?
4 asprin a solid kick to the hull spit on the trailer 4 shots o tequila and a big cigar!
Now we are onto the head gasket?

My wallet now has the flu any advise on what could be causing this?

Water in 2 adjacent cylinders usually means a bad head gasket.
Do a compression test.
Profile,location?

Also: We did a compression test on each cylinder 180 on bottom two and 170 on top (Top one has the water)

If you have whater in there it?s often exhau. maifold gasket. and if you shanged that one, and put the new in on clean surfaces and bolted it down right way. Next stage is head gasket and check the surface of the head, so it?s staight.

i am working on the same boat and 90hp sportjet engine the system is all water cooled and will see water on and in all cylinders water is pumped through the system to cool the upper and lower unit jet drive and pushed out through the manifold however i would pull manifold off and check all piston rings on the manifold side as thats all you will see check to see if the rings are flush to the piston itself they may need to be replaced for a tighter seal to the cylinder walls i am rebuilding this engine from the ground up after the owner ran the motor with only 2 cylinders as the top was running with no rings at all same cylinder you are having the problems with ,also check to make sure all spark plugs are in fully and if the problem persists pull the head and gaskets off and check cylinder walls for any nicks or scoring marks that water would seep through

Sort of sounds like a timing or mixture issue to me- water in cylinders I'm with Jerry, head gasket ( best case), but misfire, fart, stall, idle wont get a good holeshot, do the link & sync after you solve the water in cylinder issue

WOW! Hey Budman--Do you know where the period key is? LOL Seriously, a little grammar and spacing makes it much easier to read posts.

I had the exact same problem in the bottom piston, it turned out the gasket on the water manifold had a pinch in it which caused water to pull in, i removed it cleaned the surface and installed a new gasket, the problem was gone thanks Batboat11
