I own a 1994 Stratos 274 17' 9" bass boat. It has a Johnson 120 2 stoke pushing it and a Raker 13 1/2 X 22" prop. What should the speed be on this boat if it were empty with just a trolling motor and one 200lb person?

Re: 1994 Johnson 120 2 stroke speed question

You base that on the propeller pitch, rpm, and gear ratio.

If you have the correct propeller, and if the motor is set up correctly, you should be able to get close to or slightly less than 6,000 RPM.

The gears are 13:26 on standard or 12:27 on X models.

On this model, use 2 for standard gear ratio and 2.25 for X model gear ratio: http://go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm

You might use 10% slip and 5800 RPM.
