1994 Johnson 200 rectifier

The rectifier in my '94 Johnson 200 (Model J200STLERK) has melted down. Does it usually take the rest of the power pack with it when it goes or am I safe replacing just the regulator/rectifier ?

Does the motor still run? If so, the PP likely is OK.

It was running OK, tach was pinned but I've read in other posts that that's a symptom of the reg packing up. As I was heading out that day, I threw the jumper cables into the boat. Jump started it three or four times using one of my deep cycle batteries.<br /><br />C

Change the reg/rec before the wiring catches on fire. Somewhat unlikely but very very possible.<br /><br />Ditto WildeOne! <br /><br />Good luck!
