1994 merc 100hp starter question

In another life I used to be an auto tech. That was 30+ years ago mind you. So please understand that I may be a little ignorant today. Can the start drive be replaced on this starter? If so where can I buy just the drive? I used to change them all the time back in the 60's and 70's. Now no one seams to replace drives anymore, just change the whole part! thanks in advance, bob

I like to look up OEM part #'s at the factory site, then if I want, I can use their part # to cross-reference aftermarket to see if I can save $$$ on the part.

Have your model and serial # handy, and remember many of the Merc that were available in the Mariner line will not be listed in the Merc Only pages.
