1994 Mercury 115ELP starting problem

I picked up this boat after it had been sitting a while (3-4 years). It does turn using the pull string and it is full of new oil and I have a new battery in.

The problem...When I turn the ignition I get the alarm (the one at the ignition), loud high-tone beeps about a second long with about a second between. Ignoring the alarm (assuming a false oil level or over heating indicator) I turned the ignition all the way and the alarm increases in frequency and it's almost like a buzzing sound from the engine (hard to hear over the alarm).

Thoughts...Starter? Solenoid? Others?

Thanks!

An intermittant beep is a low oil alarm. If the oil tank is full disconnect the blue wires at the bottom of the oil tank and see if the alarm stops. Then maybe you can tell us where the buzzing noise is coming from. Meanwhile read this: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158086

Update: Solenoid is good according to the test I performed using Seloc'c instructions.

Yanked starter and local guy is rebuilding.

Results posted this weekend.
