I have a 1994 mercury 40 hp on a 18 ft. sun tracker pontoon boat that I bought at a garage sale. The prop is bent up and i think it is a 9 in. pitch. I am in the process of getting the boat ready for the summer and would like to know if anyone has this type setup and what pitch prop would you recommend. It will probably be used for cruising around the lake. I dont think the motor is big enough to pull a tube or skier. Any info would be apprieciated.

Thanks.

You didn't specify if the motor had a standard lower unit (1.83:1 gears) or if it was a Big Foot lower unit (2:34:1 gears). It makes a big difference in the prop selection process. If this is a Big Foot, I would suggest you install a 14 x 9 Merc four blade pontoon prop. If it is a standard motor you would need something in the 10-1/2 x 9 or so.
