1994 Sea Ray Sundancer 270 Few Questuions

1994 Sea Ray Sundancer 270 7.4 bravo 3 240 hours Boat has come long way from where it was in the spring it previously sat in a driveway for 5 years. It has been a awesome boat all summer and now that the season is coming to a end i have a few questions.

1. What is the proper way to winterize it with the bravo 3 setup all of my other boats had the impellers in the drives so I just used a hose/ears to suck up antifreeze dont think it will work that way with this.

2. I have the webber 4 barrel carb on it currently had it professionally rebuilt beginning of season if it sits for a day its hard to start at first think gas drains out of it also at times it feels sluggish. What is a better carb to put on it for next season I am not a fan of this one/am sick of it lol. Would a rochester 4 barrel work? I have had those on all of my other boats open to all suggestions regarding carbs wish I could afford injected.

Drain everything, 2 on the block, 2 on exhaust mans, 1 Maybe on the power steering and/or oil cooler.

This is why serial numbers are always best

If you have the 6 port thermostat housing serial number 0F351999 or below the PS cooler is down low and has a 1/4 NPT plug which needs to be drained. Remember to poke a wire or something up in thru the drain holes

If you have the 4 port thermostat housing then the PS and oil cooler is combined on top the rear of the motor. It will self drain

Pull hoses off the belt driven water pump and let drain

Now you winterized, and if you want to add antifreeze by pouring it into the thermostat housing and hoses then that's up to you

You can put a Q-jet on your motor if its jetted for it. My 95 Rinker has the webar carb and do agree need to get the fuel up to it if its sat a long time, but I have had no issues with mine and I bought the boat new

A friend of mine had the same boat . . . he used to call me up to 'help' him winterize it or if he was having trouble with it. he sold the boat, and I haven't heard from him since :D

Anyway, boat engines are stupid, they have no idea where the impeller is :) Pretty much the same winterizing procedure, but 'we' advise draining things, even after you've run AF into the engine.

On your other issue . . . I don't think it is the carburetor's fault that the fuel is draining down . . . it might be the fuel pump or the check valve at the tank fitting. I had the same issue with my older boat . . . same engine. If left for a week or so, it would require a bit of cranking to re-prime the fuel line. I considered it an incentive to use the boat more often. :thumb:

Thanks for the info guys and it has a new fuel pump ect on it It does not need to sit for a week if I come back the next day its a Pain in the *** to start I have to pump it crank pump it crank leave half throttle and normally it will catch. I will check the check valve fitting forgot about that.
