Hi everyone,

So i recently got a 1994 Seadoo SP from a friend. Long story short, when accelerating, the Seadoo doesn't have any top end power. I checked the compression psi for both pistons and they consistently read right around 130psi.It just plunges through the water. Im not sure what to do... Any suggestions?
Thanks everyone.

it is probably a fuel delivery issue or an exhaust leak inside the hull, The exhaust leak is easy to check, run with the seat removed and see if it runs ok, if so look for a hose or a clamp that is leaking, as for the fuel issue, old gas will do that, garbage in the fuel tank or old fuel lines will do that since sea doo fuel lines deteriorate, also the fuel selector switches go bad and restrict the fuel flow as does the internal fuel filters or old dried up diaphragms in the carb. Or perhaps your fuel pump is weak or the pulse tube is leaking air making the pump weak.
Other issues could be bad spark plugs or the plug wires however I would put my money on the fuel issue.

Do you think by any chance that it could be the impeller wear ring? I'm trying to eliminate the easy problems first.
Thanks.

wear ring will make it cavitate, they are worse at low speed under power than high speed, so if you hit the throttle and it feels like it is doing a lot of r p m's and not going fast then yes if it just won't pick up rpm's or get top end speed then no

Do you feel like the engine's reving up and that it runs okay?

I agree about wear rings causing running problems. I have a 1990 model Sea Doo 587 (yellow engine) that needs a wear ring--but ran great until I retired it with a 4 stroke Waverunner 3 years ago.
