Have a 1995 2 stroke, 115 HP Evinrude, was running great, the last two trips we went out in the bay and when i throttle up towards full speed it starts acting up, like its running out of fuel, i checked the fuel coming out of the fuel/water separator it is clean, checked the fuel coming from the tank and it is clean, looking at changing fuel hoses....

How often should the fuel/water separator be changed?
Should i always use high octane fuel and fuel treatment?
Can the hoses cause this problem?

The fuel water separator should be changed annually. In cold climates, that's usually at winterize time in the fall. If you think you have water in the fuel, take a fuel sample from the tank-fill a glass full and wait 20 minutes. Fuel water separators can fill with water over time-you can dump your current one out, then re-use it. Your engine is probably manufactured to run on 87 octane. Check the owner's manual or factory service manual. If you use a higher octane fuel, it's just a waste of $. Hoses normally don't cause these problems, but the hose bulb has two ball valves in it, which can go bad over time. A sign of trouble would be if the hose bulb collapses when the engine is running. Would be helpful to know just which engine you have. In 1995, OMC made two distinctly different engines, a 115 90 degree crossflow and a 60 degree looper. Not much in common between them. Pls post the model number of your engine.
