1995 120HP Force Lower Unit Removal

Hey guys, I'm about to change the impeller on my 1995 Force 120HP motor, but I'm not sure if I need to do anything with the shift linkage before removing the bolts. If I do need to unhook the linkage, where do I get access, and do I unhook it? The Seloc manual is very confusing as isn't any help with this one.
