No it is not the same.
No, not the same quality either.
Force engines were old designs originating in the 60's.
When Mercury bought up Force, they gradually upgraded the ignition systems, lower units, fuel pumps, carbs, tilt n trim units.
They used existing parts from their previous Mercury and Mariner lines.
The 1984-1994 models were almost the same with the exception of the ignitions.
By 1995, the 40 hp received major upgrades on all systems, and was pretty decent.
