Hi all!! My motor wont stay at top speed more than ten seconds..... I cleaned & rebuilt the carb, replaced both coils, spark plugs and wires(one cylinder was not firing),I timed it ....Compression test 130# both cylinders and checked for bad wires also all new fuel lines, clamps and filter and bypassed connection on front of motor, and checked fuel pump (seems to be pumping plenty of fuel)..... I start it and it fires right up and runs good...I take off full throttle and it goes like a bat out of hell for about 10 seconds then the motor bogs down.... So I back the throttle down to just under half throttle and it will run all day....You guys got any ideas?

Sounds it is starving from fuel.
You says it is pumping plenty of fuel, how did you checked that?
Suggest you to check and even change the fuel pump diaphragm. It is regular maintenance.
Check for air leaks at fuel line and restrict in fuel pick up at tank etc.
As it would not run at WOT but runs at half throttle it is most likely a fuel starving issue.

Did you replace the squeeze ball when you replaced the fuel lines? They can fail and restrict flow. Also check fuel vent for blockage. What do you mean by "bypassed connection on front of motor" ?

Check the hoses and try a second tank with different fuel lines.
Try running with the cover off?

I replaced all fuel line, clamps and ball from tank to carb... I've tried both fuel tanks... I removed the spark plugs and unhooked fuel line at carb and had wife turn engine over and it spayed a ton of fuel... I checked the vents on both tanks replaced the fuel plug in at tank and bypass the fuel plug in at the motor... The only thing I haven't done yet is rebuild the fuel pump....Thanks everyone for your input

"Replaced the fuel plug in at tank and bypass the fuel plug in at the motor" ?? Not sure what you mean by this.....shoot a pic of what you bypassed or plugged up would help.

The boat is 2 hours away from me right now and I can't send you any pics.....I replaced the fuel line connector to the gas tank. and there was a fuel line connection at the motor that was disintegrating so I took it off the motor and ran the fuel line through the hole where the fuel connection was.

So you didn't actually plug up or bypass anything, that's good. Check back here early tomorrow morning for more input from the Force gurus. In the mean time, you stated you have not replaced the fuel diaphragm...do it....should be changed as a maintenance item just like the impeller....ethanol fuel is hard on them.
