1995 454 MPI tuning, where to start?

Ive tried searching on here, google, etc etc and couldnt find any helpful information. I have a 1995 454 MPI (330hp) in a 1996 Four Winns Horizon. Does anyone know what type of cord I need to get into the ECU and tune? I dont know if its OBD1 or 2 or something else, or even where the port is to plug the ecu in or anything. Any help would be great, Im in a total fog here. Thanks in advance.

You csn't get into a marine ECU and "Tune" it. If you have a diagnostic tool from either OEM or rinda.com, then you can read what your ECM is doing, but you can't change it yourself.

Obviously, you haven't found the Adults Only section of this forum yet...
The Factory manuals can be found in there...
They clearly explain the process you're lookin' for...

Thanks for the welcome.

I did see the Adults only section and downloaded the pdf for the yr/model, I could only find the diagnostic part of it. The reason I asked was Im pulling the engine from the boat to use in a car, after rebuilding it and replacing the oil, cooling, fuel system, etc. I wanted to reuse the MPI based system with the ECU but obviously if I cant get in there to tune it I will need to go with a new intake/ECU/etc for management. Anywho, my question was answered, thank you all.

there is a place in arizona,name slips me for now, that has what your looking for.
I am doing the same with a 2000 volvo 7.4MPI. its going in my daughters 83 chevy half ton with a 480sl tranny.
this place can supply the harness,programmable ECU and the pump assy.
it can be used with various electronically controlled and conventional transmisions and with or without closed loop.

If you do happen to remember the name it would be very helpful, Im glad to see Im not the only one converting from marine to auto.

In the mean time Im going to hit up google and see if I get lucky. Thank you for the replies.

Are you thinking of arizona speed and marine? If so I think they are either closed or have downsized in employees, Or something like that.:confused:
You may want to call them to see what is in their future, That is if this is the place you are thinking of.:)

I think thats it, called them a few weeks ago about reflashing a MEFI 3 ECU for a WT volvo 5.0 to 5.7 specs.
talked with them last august about the 7.4 project.
oneday it will happen.

I just got a quote for the 2 bar map sensor + ECU recalibration, Im looking at around 500 even.

On a totally unrelated note, because people are making me very very nervous about lightly boosting (5psi) the 454, does anyone know if the 454 Magnum pistons and crank are backwards compatible with the regular 454? From looking at the very detailed spec manual, it looks like on paper the only main difference between the two rotating assemblies is the Magnum is forged. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
