I just recently install a 95 50hp Johnson onto my 1984 bass tracker. The guy I bought the motor from says I may need to change the prop cause he had the motor on a pontoon. So now I'm trying to find out what prop I need to get and really don't have a clue

He's probably right if it was on a pontoon its a low pitch. Look at it and see what it is. But,,,,,,,,,,you have to start somewhere so run it and get some numbers. Just be careful you don't over rev your motor. If you can find a prop shop they may be able to loan you some used props to try. I'm thinking to start with around a 17 pitch might be good. There are some prop experts that will give you some better ideas I'm sure.

The only problem is that my console doesn't have a rpm or speed gauge. So how would I go about that?

Speed is easy use a gps most cells have a gps app.
For a tach the induction tachs work well just follow the directions
carefully.Very simple install either permanent or temporary.
As suggested a 17" is a good place to start.
Solas Amita is a good prop.Solas sponsors the prop forum.
Your present prop numberes are under the prop nut or near the base of the blades.
I checked Bass tracker numbers the smaller is I think 15 ft and 5' wide,400 lbs larger is 16 ft and 5' 9" wide 505 lbs.
Might be a little under propped at 17" but better slightly under than over propped.
