1995 90hp Lower Bearing Housing Sealer

Question about sealing the O-Ring when installing a lower bearing housing... Which is best?

1. Lube o-ring with gear oil.

2. Lube o-ring with grease.

3. Seal o-ring with OMC/BRP sealer.

4. Something else???

Is this on the powerhead or the gearcase ?-----What is the model # of this engine ?----I just use grease on these o-rings.
