Wondering about ss prop, I currently have a 14.25 x 21 aluminum prop on my 1995 Chris craft concept 19 with a 5.0 fl with a sx cobra 1.6 drive. Never had great water but I can get 4400+ rpms at 47+ mph gps never had flat enough water and no kids and old lady yelling at me to slow down to find out what top rpm & mph is but that's pretty close I think to all she has. 3200 rpms is about 32 mph. Dunno if anyone can help but I've read I might need to drop a size. I want to just get all around prop with at least same top if not more thanks

That's pretty close to all she's got. I don't know what WOT is for a 5.0 but it must be near 4400 RPM. Much more than that and the next noise you'll here is the wife complaining about having to get a new motor.

If already at max wot rpm of 4400 which isn't known and dropping say one less in pitch will bump your wot rpm + 200-400, that gained rpm will not be known till a wot run as usually loaded is performed. If those props are only available in 2 less pitch reduction, better stay with current prop as engine will over rev as usually loaded, just good if wanting to carry more passengers while maintaining max rpm as before.

Happy Boating

Thanks for replies, 4600 is max rpm from what I've read. But I've read that a stainless prop needs to be different pitch from aluminum I have now. I need to buy a spare prop so I thought changed to stainless and keepin mine now as a spare
