1995 Evinrude 50hp vs 1987 30hp Evin. Alternators?

I presently own the 1987 Evinrude 30hp, elect start, no tilt or trim. While up in the N.W. Angle of MN on a fishing trip my battery drew down bellow 9 amps and shut my GPS and fish finder off. Not a good feeling back in the islands.
How many amps should the 87 30 hp be putting out?

And if I upgrade to a 95 Evin. 50hp, elect start, tilt and trim, would I be getting a bigger alternator?

Your 30hp puts out 4 amps, maximum. The 50 should have a 12 amp regulated system, as near as I can figure out.
