Just replaced my old mercury with 88HP evinrude this weekend, and was wondering if anyone knows of a wiring harnis that goes from mercury to evinrude? All my guages where ran through the merc ignition. From the control box to counsil,i thinks its only 3 or 4 wires coming from conrol box........:(

It shouldn't be that hard. Where do the wires go?

Re: 1995 evinrude 88 spl

Haven't really looked to see exactly where they go, other than that they run from my old merc control box to underneath my console.Didn't do much other than install motor, hook up and adjust throttle/shift cable's and run motor.Next day tied up some loose ends and now it's in the low teens here,to cold to mess around with boat. The plug is a half moon shape that plugs in to the front of the merc control box with 4 wires if i remember right?couldn't tell for sure but looked like they where wired in with the ignition so that when key is on then it powers up all gauges. In the next couple days I'll check where wires go and let you know.

The OMC control box (side mount) has a very similar plug, only three wires. It is located under the throttle/gear shift lever tension control knob. Under the key switch.

I suspect the Merc. Control is powering the tacho. and is using the HOT wire to power lights, volt meter or whatever else you have.

The OMC harness is available here on iboats. Here's the OMC harness. See below.

That should make it simple. The wiring diagram for the harness is avaialble (PDF) on the Teleflex site. It also comes with the harness.
