I have been around this motor and boat for 10 years and it has ran fine until a week ago. i have replaced primer bulb as found it leaking then it would run great at idle and take off plane out then just acting like no fuel getting to carbs. found bulb soft re pumped and again same result started surging replaced quick disconnect on motor thought it was bad and sucking air, not the case, put inline 12volt pump in and it ran fine at high speed but low speed would flood out, i am thinking fuel pump on motor is weak and runs fuel out that is in line but cant keep pressure after that but wanted to ask opinions before i replace fuel pump or rebuild? thank you in advance

Squeeze the primer bulb when running at high RPMs, this does the same thing as the fuel pump, only won't flood the motor.

The primer bulb will normally be soft when the motor is running, it just shouldn't collapse.

ondarvr, i have actually done that while a friend of mine was driving and as long as i could keep squeezing the primer bulb it ran fine but as soon as i stopped it would run for a few seconds and start slowing down that is why i really feel its the fuel pump but i also thought it might be the high speed orifice just ordered new fuel pump and will install when it arrives it was cheaper than i thought but if that doesnt work i am at a loss unless i pull the high speed orifice and replace or clean i will have to replace the o ring on it if i pull it but those are cheap too. thanks for the input

There are rebuild kits, but if you already ordered a fuel pump it should be fine. Also look for air leaks in the fuel line fittings and connections.

Fact is, the OE pulse fuel pump is more than capable of fueling your motor. Another fact is using a 12V pump on a boat can be dangerous. You have a new pulse pump coming - IMO, use it and remove the electric one.

Interalian. I agree completely. Was actually just trying to run it while out on vacation but it was too much fuel for it so I removed it and just putted around.
