One of my friends has a 1995 Evinrude 115 V-4. The motor has a problem each time we take it out of storage from the spring. It seems that the oil is reaching the carbs much before the gas is, thus flooding the carbs with oil. The past three years the motor has done this. I have to take out the carbs and clean them up, then reinstall. I have taken the fuel line running from the pump/VRO to the carbs off and tried to pump all the oil out of the line before priming the engine, but it seems oil is already in the engine. Each time you pump the bulb, pure oil comes out until the gas gets to the pump/VRO, then it cleans up to the proper mixture. I do not know if the gas is evaportating from the float bowls and oil is siphoning through, or what to think. I have talked to some about this and most have said to abandon the VRO. I have been told it is somewhat unreliable. He really would like to keep the injection intact. Any ideas or help here?? One other question we have is what would the approximate cost of a tune up run on this motor?? I know that is difficult to answer considering some parts would be needed, but a guess would be great. Thanks for the help!!!
