1995 honda 9.9hp

I'm looking at a boat on friday it has a honda 9.9hp kicker 2 stroke on it and a 2003 bought new in 2006 4 stroke 90hp merc on it.
I have bought a compression guage, just wondering what compression should be, whats acceptable and what not, can anyone help me out with some figures before Friday?

120 lbs. per cyl.... no less than 10 percent between them... that is generally what you should see at a minimum......a new engine may be as high as 160 lbs......depending on the eingine... my 20 y/0 nissan 9.8 is 120 lbs and starts easy....when it gets below 100...you may have problems....good luck.

Honda never made any 2 stroke outboards that I am aware of.

? really. i just assumed that it was a 2 stroke since it was a 1995. Does anyone know this for sure?
Is it a 4 stroke?

Check the engine oil, there is a dip sick under the cowling. Honda has never made 2 stroke engines.

after posting the message regarding the compression I researched whether or not Honda made a 2 stroke, the information that I found was that the head man at Honda felt that the water was special and did not want to pollute it with oil, so he made only 4 stroke engines...if there is a dipstick then it is defineately a 4 stroke, gotta have oil somewhere..

You will also notice some large decals on the cowling that read "4 Stroke". That's usually a pretty good tip off.

well thats great to hear. I'm looking at it on Friday so i don't know model, or serial number or anything liek that.
You guys all seem bang on so thats great. I would have gotten a nice suprise when i saw the dipstick.
