1995 J200 V6 - Was unable to prime fuel after the boat sat for seven months and a fuel/water separator change. Pumped the bulb many times with no indication of fuel flow. I removed the fuel line that enters the in-line fuel filter near the motor and was able to prime fuel into a catch bottle. I reconnected the fuel line to the in-line filter and was then able to prime and fill the bowls until floats closed needle valves. Motor started and ran fine on the hose. I never had to do this in past years after storage. Fuel hoses and primer bulb are two yrs old. Question: What is between the in-line filter near the motor and the primer manifold that feeds the carbs? Does it sound like something was preventing fuel from entering the carbs? Many thanks!

Sounds more like a valve wasn't properly seating within the fuel primer bulb. Should this happen again, hold the fuel primer bulb in a vertical position, with the arrow facing up of course. This should help to seat the valves should one be sticking.

Thanks for the feedback. Actually, the arrow is sort of facing down at about four o’clock. Perhaps gravity is working against the check ball in the bulb. Sounds like the bulb should be installed so that the arrow is facing up or north of three o’clock. (the arrow is facing toward the motor).

Exactly! I'm surprised that the fuel bulb ever worked while being in that position.
