Re: 1995 Javilin 400t

sorry...i dont know the boat.......is it a fourty footer?

just about all fiberglass boats, are plywood floor..(deck...sole).
this ply is covered by a layer of fiberglass.....then possibly gellcoat...

however...yours is carpeted.....prob just glass over wood.....

the only way your gonna find out......is rip up some carpet....

heh heh heh.....if your redoing it....ripping up carpet is the least of your worries....:D :D :D

cheers

Re: 1995 Javilin 400t

chances are .....the wood under the console is fine......

man....that thing is only 13 years old........

you may get away with cutting out the infected area, and replacing a small part.

if you do the whole floor, the consoles must come out.....they are just glassed in....

my problem is.......i cant under stand a soft deck in a younger boat......i kinda think you might have water intrusion problems....that means.....the floatition foam might be wet....(i hope there is no foam in there.....but its a go fast bass boat....so there might be).....any how you will know when you get in there.....

to remove the floor.......rip up the carpet.....(sorry)....cut a small hole in the floor using a whole saw ......find out how thick the wood is.....then set a circ saw to that depth....no more !.....and cut your pattern.....you can leave 4 ins around the hull if its not rotten.

if you wanna do the whole shabang..(take out the four inch strip around the edges)..you will need to grind out the fiberglass at the deck hull joint.....then the four inch section will come out easily......use the peices for a pattern for the new deck.....

get your wood for the new deck now and start drying it...!
forget marine ply.....just use a good exterior grade ply....

also .....you can read the compleated projects forum.....or search floor, deck replacement.

even though the boats are not the same brand or design.....the process is uasually the same or simmelar.

cheers
