I have a 1995 Johnson 175 HP fastrike motor on my javelin Bass boat. When I first start the motor up cold the engine motor works perfectly I can accelerate right up no problem. After the 1st run once the engine warms up is when my problems start.

The engine idles at 1100 rpm and when I go to accelerate if I accelerate quickly then it dies. I can get going If I feather it very lightly up to about 3200 RPM then past 3200 I can accelerate normally. It does seem to idle rougher also once it is warmed up.

I have replaced the spark plugs, mixed some fuel system cleaner in the gas and these have not seemed to help. I have had this motor 5 years with very little problems. I get it winterized every year by the dealer. I put approx 100 hours a season on the motor.

Anyone have any ideas where I might start to fix this?

I would fist check the engine temp on both bank's to see if they are even. It sounds like you have a lean condition off idle. When it start's to bog down, will hitting the primer help?

It seems a number of people with OIS 2000 ignition system & carb motors have similar problems (including me). From what others have said, it's important to make sure the timing is set accurately on these motors. It also seems that richening the carb idle jets a bit helps.

I'm not sure why this problem only happens when the motor is warm. It may be related to the Quikstart feature.
