I have a 1995 J-3hp that does not want to accelerate under load. The engine loses rpm and I can bring the rpm's back up by adjusting the choke. I realize that this usually indicates a carb problem (jets, bowl etc..). I have had the carb apart and cleaned three times and it looks fine. I have also changed out the fuel filter as well as fresh fuel. Any thoughts???...Also would it be prectical to replace the carb and if so where might I locate one other than the local BRP dealer? Thank you in advance

Check the vent in the tank cap. If it's plugged, you'll get those symptoms.

I take it that one is a remote tank. Squeeze the bulb when it starts failing. If it catches up, you have a fuel pump/fuel line connection problem. If not, totally disassemble the carb again. Soak in mineral spirits for min. 24 hr's, blow it out totally w/compressed air, and it'll likely run fine. Doesn't sound like a spark prob at all. Good luck!
