Hello all. I have the above engine and the tilt assist has been getting looser for some time. I am unable to give it throttle in reverse or the prop comes straight to the water surface. Today I was fooling with it and broke the little plastic end on the wire that connects to the lock/unlock lever. The lower unit won't go down further than about half way no matter how hard I push and pull on the power assist cable. I'll try to get a new part tomorrow but I don't understand why I can't get the lower unit to drop down. My manual hasn't been much help on this so I'm hoping someone here can help me out.
