So I posted on this a couple weeks ago but I have some more specific questions.

I have a 1995 Johnson 88 SPL i want to start on a stand and want to ensure I dont fry anything.

I could really use a picture of the starter side of a 1990s Johnson or Evinrude showing the location of the positive and the location of the engine ground.

I hooked the big red 10 point plugs together, I hooked the positive to the top of the solenoid. The negative I put to a stud on the engine block below the solenoid. Is there any additional wires I need to hook up? What about neutral saftey switch?

When I turn the key it beeps once as typical but the starter does nothing. I just got this motor back from the shop where they took off this motor to replace it with a brand new Evinrude Etec. So I know the starter is fine and the motor works because I was running it the day before it came off the boat.

Thank you,

You have the battery cables connected correctly. Make sure everything is tight, check the red cable that goes from the solenoid to the starter post. There are also a ground wire rings that connect to the mounting bolts on the solenoid, power pack and tilt/trim box.

All your plug connections are made to the control box.

To close this thread, the red and yellow neutral saftey switch wires were disconnected at the binnacle key start. I connected those up and it fired right up. Nice
