I just sold my 1995 Johnson 90HP to a guy and he is having problems getting it into gear.
I repowered this winter and had a shop take the old motor off the boat. The motor ran great all last season and never had any lower unit issues. I know it shifts fine as I drove it to the dock the day it came out of the water.
From previous experience of removing the lower unit, I know the shift linkage pushes in to engage to the shift rod. The motor is in neutral and starts beautifully. He can not get it into forward or reverse. Ive only heard about it over the phone and have not seen his hookup.
Im thinking either the linkage get disengaged from the shift cable when the shop removed it, or he hooked it up wrong. He says it feels 'frozen'
Any insight on this? Id like to help this guy figure this out.
