I had this problem a couple years ago, and can't remember how I fixed it.
Engine has run fine for last couple years. Last week, ran 20 minutes or so at 4600 to the crab traps. After pulling traps, engine would ramp up but then fall off, back to around 2800 rpm, and not want to go faster. Backing off the throttle, I'd ramp it up again, and maybe it would rpm up, maybe not, but would not hold the speed.
I checked the plug wires and changed the spark plugs (they looked fine).
I changed the fuel/water filter (there was NO water in the gas)
I changed the fuel line squeeze bulb.
did a fishing run, ran about 15 minutes to fish, then 15 minutes back when done...all was fine.
then went fishing again...about a 20 minute run to the grounds, then back 20 minutes. After picking the crab gear (no crab!) same problem.
What else should I try? I'll put a fuel conditioner in, but I've been going through the fuel pretty consistently, and have been buying at the same gas station for years.....
Any suggestions would be appreciated, posted here or to my email
