1995 Mercury EFI 200 stator / voltage regs question???

I have a 1995 Mercury EFI 200 that had the stator replace 3 months ago. When the stator was replaced you have a set of wires (4 yellow on this 40 amp system) and a set of wires that went to the switch boxes.

The 4 yellow wires had 2 short and 2 long wires. Now the wires are cut the same length so my question is does it matter which yellow wires wire up to the yellow wires on the voltage regs. I was troubleshooting and got the wires out of arrangement.

Next question is if it does matter is there a way to figure out which yellow wires from the stator go where. Any help is appreciated....
