1995 Sea Rayder no power

Hello to all and thanks in advance for your help. I recently purchased this Sea Rayder 90 hp jet boat, (cuz my wife just had to have it), it runs and starts well but will not get over maybe 15 to 20 mph, just guessing as the speedo doesn't register. The motor will race and act as though it wants to move but vibrates, shakes and acts as though its slipping. Infact it seems the higher the rpm the slower it goes. The bottom plate is flush and well sealed, there isn't any debris in the impeller or in the water intake underneath. However the wear ring is pretty chewed up, It looks as though many a stones have gotten in there and gouged it pretty deep. i have no way to measure the distance between the ring and the impeller, could that alone be the cause?

Absolutely! It takes surprisingly little damage to the impeller or wear ring to completely destroy performance.

First thing buy a shop manual. Remove the reverse bucket,stator,wear ring and impeller.You can clean up the impeller blades with a file. Do a Google search for wear ring and JB Weld.Once you build up the wear ring with JB Weld you should have your hole shot back.
