1995 Starcraft 1709 ski/fish boat

Hi all, I'm a new member and need help with a 1995 Starcraft 1709 ski and fish boat I just recently bought. The PO thst I got it from had removed the original key ignition switch on the dash, this boat is an outboard with a 120 Mercury Force motor and I just received the new ignition key switch, but now I have a problem and don't know what wire connects where (?) would anyone please give me a hand with this , I tried looking on the Internet and haven't been able to come up with any wiring diagram and I have even tried contacting a boat repair shops and still nothing , so I came here looking. :welcome: is the old switch still in the boat and wired up? Does the new switch have the terminals marked, 12volt hot, ground, choke, ignition on, start? Choke may not be on the switch. You may have to trace your switch wires back t o your engine and do a wire for wire connection.

If you can find your wirring for your engine you can compare the colors at the engine to the ones at the switch. Your engine may have a decal identifying the wires on the engine.

The original key switch has been removed by the person I got the boat from because he had lost the keys to the boat, I have the original switch and took the numbers off it to purchase a new key switch, the boat ignition switch calls for one with the push in choke style. I was afraid that I would have to trace the wires like you have mentioned in your reply, I was hoping that maybe someone here would possibly have a simpler solution for me, I went to our locate boat and pontoon dealer hoping for help but no one has info on the ignition , thank you for the reply, going out to start tracing the wires.
