1995 Stingray 4.3 Merc starting issues

My 95 Stingray with 4.3 Mercruiser will not crank when trim motor is connected to battery. When I disconnect trim pump wire from battery the engine cranks over and fires right up. Trim works fine when wired to battery with starter though.

Sounds like you have something wired wrong... Like a positive wire touching ground or something

I’ll have to check this weekend. Nothings been rewired but maybe a wire is shorting out?

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Something is wrong,... somewhere,.....

You could put the grounds on the battery, the starter wire to the solenoid, 'n the trim (+) on the same solenoid stud,....
