Hey,
I have a 1995 Volvo 5.8L Fi PMDA that will not start once the engine is hot. I've tried everything I can pretty much think of.
Replaced:
Distributer cap
Rotor button
plugs/wires
coil
I pressure tested the fuel system and seemed to have a low fuel pressure issue so I replaced the High pressure fuel pump. The fuel pressure now comes up quickly to 36psi and stays there, but it didn't cure my hot start issues
I'm getting good spark from the coil and to the plugs.
The boat will start immediately when cold, but after 30 or so minutes of running if I shut it down and sit for a few minutes it will crank over and over but won't fire off.
A fairly new problem came up recently also and I'm not sure if they're related but every so often the engine will momentarily shut-off and come back on. It's very quick and there isn't any back firing or missing, but it feels like you've turned the key off then back on. it's happened at all rpm's. It seems like an electrical issue so I have replaced the relay to the ECU and Fuel pumps hoping maybe that would take care of the intermittant shut downs.
I am getting my snap-on diagnostic tool back tomorrow so I'm am going to see if it throws any codes. Does anyone have a list of codes specific to this engine or will they be the standard ford codes?
The motor is in a Donzi 212 Medallion if it's of any importance.
I'm trying to think of anything else I have done as I've been working on it off and on for several weeks now, but any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
