Hey there, newbie to this forum. I have a 1995 Chaparral 2335 SS with a VP 7.4GL Duo Prop I bought last year. Besides a few minor issues I've had no serious problems with the boat. I went to go get some part #s (oil filter, water separator, impeller) to get it ready for the water.

While checking on it I was going to run some water through the engine. When I went to start it nothing happened. No clicking, no sound, nothing at all. All the accessories on the boat work fine (blower, lights, radio, etc). I tried the tilt/trim buttons and nothing moved at all. I have it hooked up to a solar trickle charge and the boat is covered when stored.

I pulled the battery brought it home and hooked up to a battery tester which read good. I then put it on a trickle charge and within 5 minutes it was full. I took it back the next day along with some fuses to switch out on the wiring that connects to the battery. Once again the engine would not start or move. All accessories worked fine. It seems like the engine itself isn't getting any power at all.

I'm not sure where to start or what I should be looking for to diagnose the problem. Any tips or recommendations? It started up a few mos ago after we had a bad freeze in February. I let everything thaw out for a days and went to check on the boat. It started right up. We did have some very heavy storms last week and earlier this week and I went to check on it again after it all cleared up and this issue popped up.

Check for an inline fuse on the Red/Purple wire feeding the key switch under the helm

Use a voltmeter and see if there is power on the Red/purple at the key

I had a similar problem some years back, it was as simple as oxidation on the ignition circuit fuse. Did not find it till I checked the switch, wires etc. The fuse had continuity but current could not flow because of oxidation.

Neutral safety switch at throttle control arm out of position? In other words, the system thinks it is in gear? What about an engine cut off device at the helm that has failed? Bad starter relay?

Its not the neutral switch. Neutral switch issue would be the gauges turn ON but motor will not crank
