Engine losing power under load. I ran it out of gas about the same tine it broke an alternator belt. Changed the belt and filled with non ethanol and took off. It died and wouldn’t restart. Changed the fuel filter and cleaned the points on dist cap. Not sure which one worked but it ran good for two trips to the lake. So I bought a slip . Last three trips it runs fine for a little while and then loses power under load. Today took it back to slip and ran in neutral at about 3000rpm after some time it just dies. Any ideas where to look next ?

Motor needs fuel and spark to run, need to find out which one is missing

Have the motor serial number?

If it always runs fine for a while then slows and dies need to check the fuel tank vent. When it stops, remove the gas cap and listen for air to rush in. If you hear air suck in, then the vent line is clogged and the fuel pump is drawing a vacuum on the tank

cleaning the dist cap may help a little but the issue sounds more fuel delivery related

check for other fuel filters, check fuel pressure under load, check fuel tank pickup, anti siphon valve and vent

Here is engine serial numbers . Also low pressure reading and high pressure pump reading. Low never changed even if engine died . High pressure died once and it did lose pressure first . It took a while to get it to start back after that but pressure came back to 35 before it started and when it did it started right up and it didn’t die again we ran for probably 20 more minutes and it did not die and we couldn’t get it to. Strange. Based on this I think both pumps are weak / bad or it is a filter and water issue ?

Before doing this I checked the vent by running until it died and opening gas cap. Did not hear any air coming in and the hose looks good going to the tank no kinks or excess.

Number is hard to read but it looks like 4110126074 but that comes out to be a carb

LP pump 5 +/- 3 psi
HP pump 31 +/- 3 psi idle and 39 +/- 3 psi motor off key on and at WOT

Does appear to be fuel problem, it does start once pressure comes up.
Wonder if the pump has a bad connection or the pump is giving out

I read it as 4110128674. It definitely has no carb. I am thinking something is wrong with high pressure pump but intermittent.

Changed out high pressure pump. It had some paint in it. Dock tested good. Ran out of time to lake test . Hope it fixes it. With paint in there , should I change the low pressure pump also ?

After cleaning things if the LP pump works as it should I can see no reason to replace. Finding paint or anything in the pump means it has also made it to the injectors. Should have them cleaned and flow tested
