1995 Vortec?

[EMC 1810SS]

I have a 1995 Mercruiser 4.3 LX. I always assumed that I had the updated vortec heads becuase it has the composite centerbolt valve covers with VORTEC clearly cast in the covers. From My recent research for tuneing it up etc, it seems that the Vortec heads did not come out until 2006?

What in the world do I have here? Also the serial # falls within the 1995 range.

Ayuh,... The Vortec name was used on the 4.3l motors, Before the name was reapplied to GM's Fast-Burn heads in 96...

Your motor uses the head pattern used from 87 to 95...
The Fast Burn heads when intro'ed in 96 were named Vortec...

It's abit confusing, but you Don't have Vortec heads..
