I have a 1995 yamaha c85. had the carbs cleaned and adjusted by a local shop. plugs changed and all of the outboard serviced. before i brought it in it was surging at high speeds. the mechanic told me the floats were adjusted wrong. ...... doesnt surge now but has a miss(slight) at about 2000 to 4000 rpms. i changed the plugs again. no luck. Anyone have any ideas????

dunno, could be the airfuel mixture screw needs tweeking, the main jets have collected crud, timing is wonky; we need more info on the slight miss, is it one off, intermitment, only occurs around 2-4000rmp etc.

thanks for the reply.......feel it all the way thru the rpm range.....not real bad but can tell it is there....very pronounced between 3500 and 4500 to be more precise....cant feel it wot. had timing checked....timing dead on...could it be reeds or carbon....just guessing. have never decarbonised.(or however it is spelled)

Try using one container of Yamaha Ring Free per 6 gallons of gas. It will have complete instructions on the container.
