Re: 1996 1100 Wave venture fuse
This will be tricky to explain. The fuse is in a hidden spot on the 1100 Venture. Stand on the Throttle side of the ski and take off the seat. Look inside the engine compartment towards the front of the engine. You will see a rubber block with 3 red spark plug wires coming out, and the rubber block is held down by a metal bracket. On the right side just forward of the bracket is a round plug with 2 small red wires coming out of the middle of the plug. This plug pulls out and the fuse is inside in a fuse holder. There should be a spare fuse attached on the outside in a little plastic pouch.
OK, this might interest you. I had the same identical problem this year. Getting my skis ready for the summer, installed the charged batteries and my 2 701's started but got nothing when I hit the start button on the 1100. Sanded and retightened my battery connections, still nothing. I got out my meter, tested the battery and it read 12.5 volts. Recheck everything, start pulling things apart and testing fuses, switch, everything I could check, and still nothing. I guessed my starter soleoid was bad so I proceded to take it out which is a MAJOR pain to get to on the 1100, had to move the fuel tank forward and loosen and move the whole top cowling out of the way to get to the solenoid, which is tucked away in the front of the engine. Well, long story short, I found out after buying a new solenoid ($65) and checking it before I installed it, wasn't the solenoid afterall, it was the freakin battery!

Even though it read good voltage, it was still no good, I checked it on one of the other skis and sure enough, nothing! Check your battery! They are only good for 5-7 years, and thats if you keep them on a float charger in the off season. I didn't suspect this battery cuz it one was only 3 or 4 years old. Hope you figure out your problem. You should get a Clymer or Yamaha factory manual for your ski. I got a Clymer and it has been very useful.
