1996 115 mercury ob

Hi i just put some carpet on the dash and the steering base, and when i had the tach out i noticed that the P was at the number 4 how many poles does this engine have to set it up on a non mercury tacho guage?

Thank you all fixed now the needle has dropped to 900-1000 rpm, was running over that thanks again for the help
