I've got a no start condition. Engine was running fine and then simply quit. Took it home. It now easily back fires. Does not rotate easily with plugs in and firing. Rotates fine with plugs not firing. I removed plugs from cylinders, but left them in the coil cables and grounded the plugs to the block. I marked top dead center on the flywhell for each of the 4 cylinders. I used a timing light to verify spark occUrs somewhere near TDC for each cylinder. ALL COILS FIRE AT TDC, BUT FOR THE WRONG CYLINDER!!! for example, I'll be watching no. 1 coil but the light flashes no. 4 cylinder?? If I power off, wait, try again, it will give me yet a different cylinder, but never the correct cylinder. All the other coils are also random. Also, I checked and rechecked the flywheel;it's not slipping - the keyway is not broke.

Do I have a bad power pack?

thanks in advance for your reply,

Mike

pull the number 1 plug rotate the flywell untill number 1 is top dead center confirm by sticking a screwdriver in #1 hole your piston should be at the top if not a new pack will not help

well heck, it was the flywheel key.
First time I check no.1 at TDC, it lined up. Next time it did not! Pulled the wheel and found the key in two pieces. Thanx! Mike

thats great a key is real cheap better than the cost of a pack ,make sure you put the flywheel back on with #1 at top dead center the key should make that right check anyways for no more problems
