I have a 1996 15hp Force...Every now and then I have a little thermostat trouble...In that it stays shut and doesn't allow the engine to "****"...If I pull off the cover and pull the thermostat out a re-insert it it starts to work(don't know why)Its not clogged....Anyway when i tried looking up on-line for a new thermostat it seems they don't have one for the 15HP???? Like I said I've pulled it out put the housing back on with out the thermostat and my engine has run fine...Can you run a small OB engine with out a Thermostat??? As I'm sure you can tell I'm a novice at this OB stuff :) Go easy on me!

Thanks in advance fellas

run it.
It will probably do fine unless you boat in very cold water.

Does this look like your thermostat set up?

It is from an earlier model, 1992B thru ? ?
You can get the thermostat from any Mercury dealer.
Part number 819550 THERMOSTAT (105 DEGREES)

Don't lose part number 7, as it is no longer available.
Gasket #1 is a make it yourself item.
